"Pianississimo 2" is a sequel of Pianississimo that was spectacularly performed two years ago at JNYC 2009. It's all about piano & pianists and specially dedicated to all the piano (and pianists) lovers of Indonesia. The main feature this year is the world premiere of Ananda Sukarlan's "Vivaldi's Winter of Discontent", a piece for 4 pianos dealing with global warming and climate change. It is based on Vivaldi's "Winter" from the Four Seasons, but cunningly twisted and modified into a 21st century harmonic language and texture, also influenced by Michael Jackson's dance rhythms and polyphony from his celebrated album "Thriller".
Young vocalists Melissa Christina & Aditya Pratama will sing Ananda's new songs about piano, based on poems written for Ananda by Indonesia's prominent poets Hasan Aspahani & Medy Loekito.
Also will be performed the astonishing work for 6 pianists on 3 pianos, "Schumann's Psychosis". It was performed 2 years ago bringing great excitement to public.
Jakarta New Year Concert 2011 will take place at the Auditorium Museum Nasional (Jl. Merdeka Barat) on Sunday the 9th of January 2011, 4 p.m.
